Demel is definitely a tourist spot, but we absolutely loved it! The Kaiserschmarrn was incredible, and one of the highlights is that you can watch it being prepared, which makes the visit an experience in itself. My partner isn’t a fan of sweet breakfasts, so he ordered the eggs with sausage. They were delicious, and the bread was honestly 10/10. The service was friendly and fast, and everything arrived quickly. A useful tip: if you only want to try the Kaiserschmarrn, you can buy it as a takeaway. It’s cheaper than dining in and the takeaway portion is even larger.

Food: The Sacher Torte is a must for food lovers when you're in Vienna. Demel added a twist to this royal dish by adding the Apricot Jam both in between the spongy layers of cake and below the hard dark chocolate exterior. It was a very surprising combination for me. The cake wasn't overly sweet, owing most of it's sweetness to the jam. Also had the Pan Au Chocolat, filled with dark chocolate goodness. The pastry had the perfect flakiness and was completely filled with the chocolate. Service: It was a few minutes to closing time so the staff were a bit jumpy. Ambiance: A beautiful restaurant

Just few steps from Michaelerplatz in center of Vienna. There was already a long que at entrance even before the cafe opened in the morning. I ordered their most popular Kaiserschmarrn and Sachertorte and both were very good in terms of taste. Since I went for a take away the service was quick and staff was friendly. Very touristy place but definitely not a tourist trap. TIP - go for a take away instead of dine-in as price for take away is less and service is quick.

21-06-2026 - A legendary Viennese pastry shop that is well worth a visit. Prices are on the expensive side, as you would expect in central Vienna, but the quality more than justifies it. Stopped here only for an Aperol as it was very hot, but the Kaiserschmarrn is simply outstanding, freshly prepared, light, and fluffy. We decided to try it after asking someone at the next table, who was enjoying a serving, if they would recommend it. They certainly did, and we were glad we took their advice.
