Had an amazing dinner on my first day in Ghent during my visit in September 2024. The carpaccio was out of this world. Their specialty stewed beef was also great. Highly recommend dining place even though crowded at night.

Absolutely amazing. From the moment I stepped in, they were welcoming. The ambiance is elegant but relaxing. The servers are spectacular. Mine showed me the proper belgium was on how to eat the flemmish stew which I found endearing as not many would go out of their way to explain how they typically consume their natural meals. The food was definitely filling and hearty but given the service I had to do a dessert. I highly recommend coming here. If not for the food, definitely for the service. Its above and beyond. Outstanding Service from Nicholas!! Walking up to the restaurant you will notice it feels very comfortable, classy, outside has seating. Walking inside is a completely different feel of that classic retro feel. Very classy, staff is extremely attentive. This was such a great dining experience- I requested the house cocktail and it was delicious! The Shrimp Crockets were creamy on the inside with a great crisp shell, served with lemon with a bed of salad in the center. Had a great experience at Du Progres. If you’re looking for great traditional Belgian food don’t hesitate to come here. Everything from the wild boar stew, the croquettes, the mushroom sauce (a must try) and the steak was cooked beautifully. They offer unlimited fries, a refreshing pesto salad and very reasonable beer prices. The service was also very attentive; we didn’t have a reservation but they had a table for us within 5mins.
