A T★★★★★Nice random find in Ipoh and honestly quite a pleasant surprise. The food was good and the atmosphere was lively, with many tables celebrating birthdays and family gatherings. Personally enjoyed the fried cod fish and especially the steamed prawns. Both were very fresh and well cooked. The asparagus with prawns was also a nice dish and went down well with everyone. The claypot chicken was fragrant, tender and succulent. The gravy was rich and flavourful, and went really well with the rice. Ended up having quite a few extra spoonfuls because of the gravy. Overall, a very satisfying meal with good food and a nice ambience. Would definitely come back if I am in Ipoh again.
Rachael Tan★★★★★Decided to have dinner here after it was dubbed the “undisputed best Chinese food in Ipoh” and it really truly is!!!! This was hands down the best meal of my 7 day Malaysia tour through KL, Penang and Ipoh. Highly recommend the fried cod fish, handmade tofu, 青瓜! Wish I had this quality of food at this value where I live
Tina Liow★★★★★I recently had lunch at one of Ipoh’s most well-known Chinese restaurants, and it truly lived up to its reputation. Every dish was thoughtfully prepared, showcasing both skill and consistency in the kitchen. The restaurant is especially famous for its freshwater prawns and other seafood specialties. Standout dishes like the Freshwater Prawns with Soy Sauce and the Cod Fish were absolutely delightful, bursting with rich and well-balanced flavors. What made the experience even more special for me was the nostalgic ambiance. The classic interior, complete with elegant chandeliers, brought me back nearly 25 years to when my cousin held their wedding banquet here. That old-school charm adds a unique warmth that’s hard to find nowadays. This is definitely a must-visit spot if you’re in Ipoh perfect for celebrations, family gatherings, or group dining. Just be sure to make a reservation in advance, as it’s a popular choice and seats fill up quickly.
Shukman★★★★★Every dish is well made and very authentic. Shrimps and fish are fresh. Though they are a bit pricey at Ipoh’s range, 300g cod costs RM90. It does worth and great for family dinner or special occasion. Outliers of cod is crispy and inner is soft and juicy. Tofu is average though. Will try other dishes next time!
Edwin Pang★★★★★If you are looking for an authentic, comforting, and flat-out delicious meal, Pusing Public Restaurant delivers in spades. Every dish served was a masterclass in classic flavors executed with precision. Soy Sauce Fried Prawns The meal started strong with a plate of perfectly fried prawns bathed in a rich, savory soy-based sauce. The prawns themselves were wonderfully plump and snapped with freshness. The sauce hit that elusive sweet-savory sweet spot, clinging beautifully to the shells. Crowned with fresh coriander and green onions, it was a fragrant and deeply satisfying dish that had us polishing off every drop of the sauce. Stir-Fried Qing Long Cai with Bean Sprouts For the greens, the stir-fried *qing long cai* (dragon chives) mixed with crisp bean sprouts was phenomenal. The dish was laced with a prominent *wok hei* (breath of the wok) and tossed with deeply savory fried shallots and garlic. It stayed incredibly vibrant, crunchy, and light—providing a perfect texture contrast
YF★★★★★This restaurant is full all the time and for a good reason. Perhaps the best Chinese seafood restaurant in Ipoh! Steam turbot fish was fresh and cooked to perfection. Everything we ordered was faultless. Just Yum yum yum! Ambience wise, it is super noisy as it is very packed. Will always to back to Pusing when i'm in Ipoh.
