If food culture immersion is one of your tmust-do's when travelling, then the Francesinha is definitely a must try, and there's absolutely nowhere else to try this heavenly goodness than Alicarius. Whenever you're in or near Aveiro, visit Alicarius for the delicious food, perfect ambience and friendly staff. Make sure to book your table first, it can become very busy. Otherwise still try your luck, they do fit in walk-ins where possible. 😉

This traditional francesinha was delicious, and huge!! I would say enough for 2 people, and it comes with the most amazing, crispy fries. The service was attentive, friendly and fast. I did not hear anyone speaking English here, so I think it is a locals’ place, off the beaten path, and authentic. Highly recommended!

David Henderson★★★★★

First time trying this delicious sandwich. I went for the original and my wife had the tuna. The restaurant has a small menu but a great selection. One sandwich comes with chips and is enough for two!

The food is gross. Its chicken or meat or whatever else you choose, put between two slices of bread, burried under slices of cheese and everything flooded with some tasteless tomatoey sauce. If that's your thing, go enjoy otherwise its better go to McDonald's. At least you will know what you are ordering!
