Peleke O’Soshio★★★★★Our visit to Mãe Violante, once again, proves that having a friendly staff makes dining an even better customer experience beyond just having great food. I selected Mãe Violante by Google-searching good restaurants in Faro that were close to our hotel. We ordered cataplana because it is one of the regional specialties, and recommended as a "must try" by our guide at the free walking tour we took earlier that day. We had the Seafood with Lobster cataplana and it was delicious. The lobster, prawns and clams were cooked in a delicious broth with peppers, and presented in the copper vessel which
martin adams★★★★The food was tasty, the Portuguese steak was cooked to perfection but was was served with crisps rather than fries as I would have preferred. The cataplana had a lot of bones and could have had more seasoning and flavour. Not bad value for the location and quality of food. Overall 4/5
mm ss★★★★The main courses were delicious. I could notice that the chef took proper time to care about his dishes that were slow cooked to near perfection - from th lamb that was tender and full of flavour to the fish cataplana that was less acidic compared to those in other restaurants in the region. The ingredients used also seemed fresh. Definitely one of the top restaurants in Algarve. The staff were warm and tentative, although some lacked experience in the industry. But the quality of food compensated that. Cozy ambient and pretty quiet. I'd recommend people who are after quality cooking.
Laurent GIORELLO★★★★The food was absolutely delicious. The chef focuses on the basics and bring flavours and perfect balance to every dishes. I'm actually impressed as it's one of the best food I've had so far in Algarve. Regarding the service, I understand the comments there. Basically, the staff is pretty young and inexperienced but really willing to do things well. They need a little more experience and training and then they will really reach a very good level. All that's needed is the head of staff to lose the chip on his shoulder, learn himself first and then teach the others by showing. The restaurant has
