There are places where I truly enjoy my weekends. La Tabernilla de José, in Jaén, is one of them. It's peaceful. Cozy. No unnecessary noise. You come here to eat well and feel comfortable. José and his team offer a service that's almost nonexistent these days: warm, friendly, attentive without being intrusive. They make recommendations, explain the fish, and take care of you. A very disappointing experience. My husband and I went looking for a quiet dinner and trusted José's (apparently the owner's) recommendations. It felt more like they were trying to push products than offer good service. The worst part came at the end: €9 for a scoop of ice cream and a ribeye steak that weighed less than 200g, charged as if it were 500g. It's not the price, it's the feeling of being cheated. Furthermore, the atmosphere was uncomfortable, disorganized, and poorly coordinated. I wouldn't recommend taking their advice or going, especially if you're not from the area.

Centrally located restaurant in Jaén. It's a quiet, well-decorated, and clean place. The service was very good and attentive. Personalized attention with excellent recommendations for dishes and wines. We didn't have to wait long; our food and drinks were served quite quickly. Good value for money.

It's a place with very little to recommend it. The food isn't bad, but in my opinion, it's expensive and the portions are small. The staff has no idea about the hospitality industry, so the service leaves much to be desired. They try to project an image that has nothing to do with reality. I think the dessert deserves a mention; I'd give it a -20,000 (I'm not sure what this is about) haha. It's ridiculously expensive! A slice of cake and a French toast, nothing more! Not even a decoration, a scoop of ice cream... nothing: €7. Speechless.
