Be careful with the barman with the white beard. I was showing the bar to a friend so he could get to know the place, but the barman followed us downstairs and insisted that we buy a drink, even though there is no minimum consumption policy. If there is an entry fee or a requirement to consume it should be clearly stated at the door. I even make sure with the security guard beforehand if there was any charge to enter, and he said no, so this situation was confusing and uncomfortable. A gay bar in the heart of the chueca area in Madrid, it's very central. It gets crowded very fast , I tried to go there 3 days in a row without luck but finally I managed on the fourth day. The prices are good for drinks. The crowd there is quite old (+65) especially early at night and on Sunday. There's a dark room too. If you're into older men then that's the place to go for you. I have been coming here since I first visited Madrid many years ago. As someone who works on the scene, I tend to avoid gay bars generally, but this is an old stalwart that I always return to. I’ve always felt comfortable here so that’s why I return. I tried to give a tip to the bartender tonight but he told me he wasn’t allowed to take one. Owners of Hot; c’mon guys, let the staff have tips. As someone who runs hospitality venues and allows staff to have 100% of their tips: Be better - your staff will be happier.
