Lunch at Peninsula (located within Jetwing Jaffna) was one of the highlights in Jaffna. Their food, service and atmosphere were all great. We chose a-la carte and all the dishes and items (including drinks, mains, desserts and the aattu kaal rasam) we ordered were very good. All portions were well-sized and surprisingly not pricey as you would expect from a 4-star hotel. The staff were very friendly, pleasant, and very attentive -- we had like 4-5 people serving us - I caught the names of Jokin and Sangeeth, and the Kogulan (the manager). The atmosphere of the restaurant was pleasing, with local, ethnic aura. Will definitely come back.

Without proper notice moren than 33% was added to the bill. Some vague small print was added to the menu. We had expected the normal 10%, and maybe some small stuff, but apparently an unspecified afterthought after 10% should be taken very seriously. The strategy must be to make prices look conparable or lower than in other restaurants. The defense is that this is 'normal' or 'standard'. As if it is ok to mislead when it is 'normal' to do so. Portions are the tiniest we've had so far and too salty. Waiter was very nice, but the aftermath ruined the experience.

This was my fourth visit. While my previous vegetarian experiences were disappointing, this time was different. The waiter recommended Shahi Murgh Musallam, which was more than enough for five people. We also tried vegetarian samosas and a brownie, all based on his suggestions. The waiter was very helpful and had great recommendations
