4 of us went for drinks during the Happy Hour special (cocktail and a pint for 10 quid) and enjoyed a wonderfully pub setting with large semicircular booths. Bar staff were excellent but the cocktails were weak (perhaps because of Happy Hour and we weren't regulars). Will definitely return on our next to Bournemouth. Great for groups of 4-6 in the booths.

Lavishly furnished cocktail bar which we ended up in for a snack and a drink mid afternoon as we had had a long walk along the beach. Friendly enough staff. The snack we had was a bit average (crispy squid) but the place is clean and smart, and I guess it might have a bit more atmosphere in the evening.

A warning to musicians and live acts I played at 1812 regularly for nearly a decade, most recently booked directly with the venue. Tonight I arrived for a booked gig, having travelled an hour, only for our band to be kicked off stage after two songs with no prior briefing about musical expectations, no constructive feedback, and no soundcheck.
