Proper Cantonese yum cha, perfect for weekends. Great location with easy parking and very close to the DLR, which makes weekend visits super convenient. The menu has clear photos with both Chinese and English, so ordering is straightforward even if you’re not familiar with all the dishes. We had all the classics — har gow, cheung fun, char siu bao, turnip cake and pork congee — everything tasted traditional and comforting, just like proper old-school yum cha. Spacious venue, relaxed atmosphere and ideal for family gatherings. Definitely a solid spot for Cantonese dim sum in London.

We booked China Palace Excel for a birthday celebration. The starters were very tasty, we had the spring rolls, grilled Shanghai dumplings, salt and pepper battered king prawns and salt and pepper battered squid with chilli and garlic. These were all divine! The mains were just okay and nothing special in my opinion, the Singapore fried rice had way too much curry powder and oil which was a bit off putting. The other meals had too much soy sauce. The half roasted duck was okay but I’ve definitely had better, it wasn’t well seasoned and slightly dry. In all the meal was okay, I would definitely

I came here after work to check out the famous China Palace, and honestly—it lives up to its bold name! For anyone living around the Isle of Dogs/Canary Wharf area, this place is super convenient. The food really delivers. The crispy pork belly on rice was excellent: perfectly crackly skin, juicy layers of meat, and generous portions. The shrimp rice noodle rolls were silky smooth with fresh prawns inside and a well-balanced soy sauce. Everything tasted freshly made, portions were satisfying, and service was efficient. A solid spot for authentic Cantonese dim sum and comfort food, especially if you’re craving proper Hong Kong–style dishes. Would definitely come back.
