I have, for many years, been a regular patron the Derby Quad and regard it as an important ingredient the city's cultural offer. I use the café and have recently attended two film presentations. I have observed what appears to be a less than optimal service. During showing of a film in the "Box" loud laughter and talking could be heard coming from the foyer area outside the "Box" during the emotional, quite moments of the movie, quite spoiling the atmosphere. During a film presentation the John Hurt Cinema the house lights were left on for the first twenty minutes of the film and then flashed

A fantastic, centrally-located venue with a rich programme of films. After enjoying a coffee in the bar space, we saw ‘East of Eden’ (1955) as part of the Quad Essentials: James Dean season. The film was introduced wonderfully by Darrell Buxton. An orchestral overture played before the lights dimmed, as was the practice in 1950s cinemas when the film debuted: a considered touch! Highly recommend repeat visits.

I saw the Neil Diamond tribute singer's film Song Sung Blue in The Box at The Quad! With only 2 other people there, it was an excellent viewing!

Making a slow recovery after having to go part time and significantly reduce what food is on offer. We were in the Box which offers an intimate atmosphere. The cinematic experience is great, shame about the endless ads. A few IT glitches on the way in meant we couldn't pay by card so used (a rare experience) cash!
