We popped into Flat White Kitchen yesterday for the first time for some brunch for my birthday. Having recently just moved to the area we didn’t have a great deal of knowledge on some nice brunch / coffee spots… but wow, this place exceeded our expectations in every way. I ordered the salmon avocado and poached eggs on sourdough, and my boyfriend ordered the Steak Benedict. He had commented how the steak was cooked rare and was absolutely perfect. Stopped in here for a late lunch while visiting Durham, we had the veggie fry up and avocado toast both of which were delicious (though we wished the veggie black pudding was a tad bigger bc it was so good). We sat at a communal table but mostly had it to ourselves. The aesthetic was very pretty with plants everywhere. Really glad we were able to stop in here for lunch!

The food is absolutey delish! Pancakes were thick but still fluffy. Steak benedict amazing. Best filter coffee around. It would just be nice for staff to acknowledge you when you walk in.

We came for a day out to Durham, we ordered the steak Benedict, iced strawberry matcha and pistachio Latte. The food was one of the best brunch items I’ve had for a while, quality food and flavour. Both drinks were perfect and the service from all staff was attentive, personable and efficient. The atmosphere was quirky and inviting. Just note when coming here there is a wait, we waited around 20 minutes but our experience was worth every second. It’s a high in demand cafe.
