A wonderful pub, £5.95 for a St. Magnus ESB from the Swannay brewery - it was devine! Just 9 other casks available..and a huge whiskey selection. Service was very friendly, I was looking for a recommendation for Indian food and got a great one for Nepalese ( the nearby Gurkha). There is food available from 12 till 8(this might be earlier) but fancied a curry. Great atmosphere and was good to hear Scottish voices after getting away from the tourist horses in town- I'm obviously a better class of tourist!!!

Great spot for lunch, great food deals. If its empty its quiet inside… but it is an old Cloister so that makes sense. Best Scottish ale list if found will out here.

Pretty special experience here. More of a locals pub than I expected, rustic doesn’t even begin to describe it. Inside a section of an old church, it’s about as good as it gets for classic pub vibes in Edinburgh. A quiet, older, respectable crowd, most of whom ordered a dram of whiskey along with their beer. Tons of cask options focusing on local breweries and also plenty of drafts and bottles. Had the fish and chips which were delicious although not the traditional coating as they were breaded. HP sauce all over the chips as I’m really starting to like this brown sauce, the preferred sauce in

Such a great place. Have patience if you're arriving at a busy time and be prepared to share a table (all part of the fun?) bit the selection of beers (incl cask ales) and scotch whiskys is worth it. Oh- and good food too!
