John Maynard★★★★★Very enjoyable not very publicised pay to get in gallery. We are very short on real art spaces in cumbria and North Lancashire so coming to Abbot hall and seeing a real Bridget Riley, several Lucian freuds and an amazing Arthur ransom portrait was really amazing. Wish it was double its size and could spend twice as long there. On our visit also really enjoyed the Skmon Starling mixed media exhibition. Was like a small gate modern installation. Superb. If its raining in particular and your children love art please do visit.
JEM M★★★★★This is a beautiful place to visit. The staff are welcoming friendly and knowledgeable. The building is elegant and filled with light. The exhibitions, both permanent and temporary, are exquisite. I found Simon Starling's Boat Works exhibition fascinating (it's on until 13th March 2026). Free entrance for ArtFund card holders. And a lovely bonus is the café with its friendly staff, lovely decor and good food. I had the Coronation Chickpea sandwich which was delicious.
Chris Whittle★★★★★Fantastic gallery. Well curated with some unexpected challenges to my thinking. I will come back to see the changing exhibitions. Absolutely worth a visit.
Bethany Darragh★★★★★Wonderful cafe! The service was quick and the staff, a lovely girl was so nice and efficient! I would definitely come here again as the customer service was superb and caused no issues. The cafe is very cute and shows the gallery in a positive light through the art work and selection of books for children so there’s something for everyone. :)
