Came here on a weekday evening and left fairly impressed. It's a proper local pub, the kind that's easy to settle into without feeling like you need to be somewhere smarter. The interior is warm, brick walls, screens up for sport, and enough space that it doesn't feel cramped even when there's a decent crowd in. Food was the main reason for the visit and it didn't disappoint. Fish and chips were well done, good batter, generous portion, came out hot. Prices sit in the £10 to £20 range which is about right for what you're getting. Nothing overpriced, nothing that makes you raise an eyebrow when

Empty Friday lunchtime, so lacked atmosphere. Fish & chips is my go to to test a pub lunch. Lunch & soft drink was a very agreeable £10 on Fridays, £11.50 if alcohol; £12 12-4 M-Th. The fish was not as big as implied by thick batter. The batter had a crispy outer, but a slippery uncooked inner. Miserable tasting frozen chips. How this place scores so highly on TripAdvisor and Google is beyond me.

I booked a table for 10 people. The table was still reserved, although the group arrived later than expected. The staff are very friendly and the atmosphere was great. I had people visiting from South Africa, and this was their first experience sitting in an English pub. A big thank you to the staff 🙏

My family came to visit and we had the most wonderful afternoon here. From letting my Dad pour his own beer, giving us some souvenirs and serving delicious food, the host was so welcoming and really made a fantastic effort to give an abroad family a magical time together. You’ll continue to see us regularly, as our fav local pub, for some games and a pint or four! Thank you!
