Very disappointed with my recent visit. I went to Pepe’s with my sister and as a regular customer, I’m very familiar with the food and spice levels. This time, I ordered hot chicken but was given lemon & herb instead. When my sister politely asked for a replacement, the manager (Hussain) responded very rudely. We also bought a bottle of Pepe’s hot sauce to check the flavour. The bottled sauce tasted correct, but the food we were served did not match it at all. When I asked why the flavour in-store is different from the sauce you sell—especially since customers buy it expecting the same taste

I was big fan of Pepes. For us Friday is Pepes day. Almost every Friday we visit Pepes since we moved here in Mansfield. Usually we order in every visit at least £15. Yesterday (08/05/26) we visited Pepes with one of our friends and we ordered almost £35. But unfortunately the food was not as expected. The staff might be mistaken to put the wrong flavour on the chicken. As we visit so often and probably order the same item with same flavour, we know our Pepes flavour very well. Usually, Pepe’s Mansfield (High Street) is a lovely place for a sit-down meal. The food is always excellent, and the staff are friendly. However, today’s experience was disappointing and has made me reconsider visiting again. My husband and I were waiting at the first till to place our order while deciding what to have, and the restaurant was very quiet at the time and there was no staff at the till. I believe I was dealing with a member of staff named Niaz Hussain whose attitude was super friendly, professional and genuinely caring. He took the time to ensure everything was perfect with my order. The food received was perfect as promised! I hope his hard work and dedication are recognised. I’ll definitely be coming back!
