We’ve been going to Green man for more than 3 years. Consistently good fries and fish. The peas however has been on a decline for a while and today was just awful. It was so dry and unflavored. If they removed it, it would be a better meal. It was crusty on the top meaning it was lying open for a very long time. Also paying for a service charge when eating in - However, we had to order via the app (or go to the counter). We had a "big birthday" party in a section of the pub garden with around 40 guests. The staff couldn't have done a better job in looking after us. Jamie did everything possible to make it run as smoothly as possible. He listened to our requests and sorted the food and drink calmly and with good humour on a very hot day. The rest of the pub was busy but he didn't show any sign of being flustered. The Greenman is our favourite local pub. My children love the chips/fries and say they’re the best they’ve had. I have to agree with them they are delicious. They often ask to go to the pub and especially love the outside area. I recently celebrated my birthday there, we were a party of 12. The food and service was excellent. Fish and Chips - really really good. Crispy, flaky, and succulent fish with and chips were perfect. Comes with a curry and tartar sauce + mushy peas. The scotch egg - disappointed. It felt like it was made ages ago and just heated up. Egg was not runny and tasted stale. The meat was meh. Because the fish and chips were amazing, still 5 stars!! Nice outside area too.
