AR★★★Portion sizes were rather small compared to the last time we went. Even the Large fishcake was small… I paid for regular chips and dread to think how few you’d get in a small portion. The squid portion was particularly tiny and not worth the money at all. Other than that fairly clean and friendly. Was quiet when we arrived around 12 and quite packed by the time we’d finished eating.
User2739★★★Not the best fish and chips I’ve ever had. Chips were dry, the cod was overcooked and under seasoned, and mushy peas were also bland. I liked the old school decor but the takeaway vs restaurant queue situation was confusing. Portions were big and plenty of seating if sitting in. Slightly expensive but you might expect that for the front street of Tynemouth.
Raymond Parker★★★We visited on a Monday in July 2026.The service was glacial. Because of a staff shortage table service was not available so no proper cutlery just a small wooden fork not easy with a steak pie. After you have finished your meal you clear your own table. My grandma was a fish fryer at Marshalls some years ago and would likely be shocked.
Julie Manning★★★★We took shelter from a storm in here & enjoyed visiting. They were short staffed so there was no table service at the time. We ordered & paid for our food at the counter & had to collect it from there when it'd been cooked. We had chip stotties, battered king prawns & a battered sausage. All were freshly cooked to order & tasty. The floors were very slippery due to the wet so take care. They have a great selection of fish on offer, including seasonal catches.
