Lena★★★★

An excellent place for a brief refreshment and conversation. Quietly elegant and perfectly situated beside Winchester Cathedral, the café balances a modern character with the charm and grace of its historic surroundings. Very charming from the outside, yet surprisingly tall, airy and filled with natural light within. The small garden adds a particularly pleasant touch. While not without a few minor imperfections, the overall experience was most enjoyable indeed

Winchester is one of my favourite cities in the world and whenever I get the opportunity to visit I always do so and I went to The Refectory for the first time today which is next door to the gift shop and I'm really glad I went because the tea as well as the shortbread is fantastic indeed. I also want to add that the staff are great and the cleanliness is one of the best I have encountered and they can provide gluten free food too. Although I admit I was torn between the shortbread and the cheese scone because they both look amazing.

First time here and I have to say, very impressed. Clean , well presented, plenty of indoor and outdoor space. Every member of staff appeared to actually want to be working on a Sunday. The service and food was fantastic and exceptionally well priced. Thank you all so much for a great experience. We will be back.

A hidden gem if you want to eat outside in Winchester on a sunny day. The courtyard and gardens are lovely. The food is light lunches and cakes mainly, the sausage rolls were a good choice. Service was quite slow especially when we returned for tea and scones. I'm sure the system could be improved.
