We decided to give this place a shot after a recommendation for good menudo. We were hopeful and excited. Place was busy so we thought okay, that's a good sign. We sat ourselves which is what you do here but the only tables available were all dirty. It's a shame that you only have two women tending to all the tables in the front. That makes for rushed and neglect. We both ordered the small menudo. My friend doesn't care for tripe so they were nice enough to not put a lot of it in her bowl. Thank you for that. The menudo was just warm and the only fixings you get are white onion and limes. Ever

We got there 10 minutes to closing and they were still so kind and sold us a concha for our son who was really looking forward to a pastry. Super reasonably priced and let me tell you, that concha was the softest, most perfect concha I've ever had. So often they end up too dry--not so here. (Our son very generously let us each try a bite, but just one!)

I did my usual search when moving to a new city, "best menudo in X". This seemed to be the overwhelming winner in terms of mentions, and Helen's Bakery did not disappoint. The menudo was top notch, and even if it hadn't been, I think their fresh baked bolillos, would have saved it anyway. Their menu is not big and their place is not flashy(though it does have a really cute charm to it), but their food is top notch, and as far as I'm concerned, that's all that really matters.
