Tonight I experienced the kind of customer service that deserves to be recognized and celebrated. I want to give the biggest praise imaginable to Cora and Melody at Safeway Store #253 for going above and beyond to help me during a very stressful situation. So I'm used to having to bag my own groceries at this store since they NEVER have any one available to do that for you. However, today (5/26/26 @ approx. 10:00 am) they didn't even have a checker available to ring up my order so I got to do that myself as well (it was nearly $150 so it wasn't small). Most annoyingly, as I was checking and bagging my order, there were two employees standing in the self-checkout area helping people who needed it, so why couldn't one of them get behind a register and ring me up? Ordered 37 items using the app. The app was ready to use and it was easy to apply the digital coupons. I was able to get a pick up time for two hours later and was texted that the shopping was done early. The order was fulfilled exactly the way it was ordered and the person who loaded the groceries was very nice. No mistakes or overcharges like I get at some Frys.

The store overall is convenient to my location. It's clean and organized. My drawback is the self service line section and the coupon discounts. Some don't scan correctly, so we are overcharged. This section also doesn't recognize the senior discount unless we call the cashier over to add the proper info. The website/ server should recognize our membership. Last visit I was overcharged nearly $9.00 and go to the customer service to correct my receipt. Frustrating.
