I brought my 8 year old and 7 of her friends to Mellow Mushroom in Blacksburg, VA on Saturday, February 21st. We walked in, without a reservation, and Alexis greeted us with such joy and excitement when she realized it was someone birthday! Alexis chatted with us as she sat us at our booth and asked questions of the birthday girl. She even came back over and gave my daughter a birthday hat she made. My group of 8-9 year olds enjoyed the pizza and atmosphere. 10/10 to Alexis for showing high quality hospitality and making my daughter feel excited special on her birthday.

I find myself more disappointed at this Blacksburg Mellow mushroom than I feel happy and pleased . It’s such a hit or miss location . Some days you have such a great experience but other days you just have awful experiences . My most recent visit to this location , they brought me the wrong drink . It took them 15 minutes to even take my order . I informed them I got the wrong drink , I wanted the Sunset Paradise and got something else that didn’t taste like it . I will start with Mellow Mushroom has been a restaurant I look for when traveling. This time in this location, it was a huge disappointment. I noticed a pattern of bad reviews on Sunday nights. Maybe that was the issue. When we arrived (5:30 p.m.), we waited over 5-10 minutes for the hostess to just appear. No one was greeting us or saying hi. Another group of 3 was waiting too. No sign was there except to wait to be seated. Then the hostess came rushing back apologetically and breathless. She then began to seat people. We always stop at Mellow Mushroom when we are traveling. This location did not disappoint! We were seated quickly upon arriving. The hostess was very friendly and smiling. Our waitress arrived quickly, chatted with us and was super friendly. She took our orders for drinks and food. We sat out on the patio and enjoyed a beautiful evening. I ordered the peach margarita and hubby got a bud light. Both were served quickly. I ordered the Holy Shiitake and husband ordered the buffalo chicken pizza. Both arrived quickly and were piping hot.
