Coast Bar and Grill is a solid spot in Charleston that’s absolutely worth a visit just maybe skip the swordfish. We started with the local oysters on the half shell, calamari, and crab dip, and honestly all three were fantastic. The oysters were fresh and tasted like the Lowcountry, the calamari was perfectly done, and the crab dip was the kind you keep scooping until it’s gone. Unfortunately, the swordfish steak fell flat. For the centerpiece of a seafood-focused menu, it was surprisingly bland and didn’t live up to the strong start the appetizers set. A little more seasoning or a bolder prep

Highly Recommend! Our first time eating here. Our server was Vivian and she was wonderful! Gave great recommendations and was the perfect amount of attentive. Every single item we ate was exceptional! The scallops, the Red Drum fish, the shrimp carbonara pasta, the crab soup, the conch fritters, the wedge salad, and the apple fries with vanilla ice cream "All Chef's Kiss"

We happened across this bar/ restaurant near our hotel. After a chilly day and lots of walking it was a perfect end to the day. We started with conch fritters which were yummy. My husband chose the fried scallops and I went with the Baja fish tacos. The tacos were generous in size and easy to eat. My husband enjoyed the perfectly prepared scallops and the coleslaw that it came with.

My wife and I had dinner at Coast Bar & Grill on John Street tonight before a comedy show next door. Overall, the experience was mixed. I started with the wedge salad and seafood jambalaya, and both were very good. The jambalaya in particular was flavorful and very well prepared. Unfortunately, my wife’s meal was a completely different story. Our server, Daniel, strongly recommended the crab cake special, telling us it was “the best thing on the menu” and that he had personally eaten it that night and it was “delicious.” Since my wife is gluten-free and the dish was advertised as gluten-free
