Sari Germanos★Genki Ya? Genki- No! A cautionary tale! Genki Ya Brookline was one of my favorite places to get sushi. Tonight, a group of us went there for dinner. The nigiri plates smelled old, smelled like bad fish, as did the specialty rolls! After a couple of bites I was completely grossed out. I always keep a pack of Cipro at home for emergencies. It will come in handy tonight! What a shame! I’ll never go there again!
W. Fei★★★★★A simple yet solid everyday to casual date sushi place. For a good price, you can enjoy a fairly decent meal with sashimi (premium raw fish) and mouth-watering specialty rolls. The environment is relaxing yet still proper, and the hostess is personable yet attentive. Their Volcano Roll has become my boyfriend’s favorite dish here for its giant serving size, variety of ingredients, and deliciousness. I vote this place for a weekday/Friday dinner with an intimate, peaceful dinner with your close friends/loved ones.
Forward★★★The salmon is good, the spicy tuna sushi is a mince and not as good. They seem to have gotten rid of some of their combos, I remember one that included miso soup that I can not find anymore. The main problem is that I usually have stomach problems after eating here, other sushi places do not make me feel the same.
Jack★I’m not sure if this waitress has had a bad day or what but I came in the afternoon to have a meal and all I saw this waitress do was besides serving our food, she suddenly argued with a staff (or manager it seems). I’m not sure what they were arguing about as it was in Chinese but it’s not right for her to yell at him. Then she suddenly gone into a rant talking to the sushi chefs. I don’t usually mind peoples business but that was worth reviewing about as it’s not how you treat your staff. I bet she’ll do the same with the customers.
