We stumbled upon Bongo’s during my husband’s ongoing quest to find the best Bengali food in the Bay Area. Bongo’s serves authentic Bangladeshi cuisine, which is very close in flavor to Bengali/Kolkata-style food—so we were excited to try it. Our first impression, honestly, wasn’t great. It’s a very small place with just a few tables—I wouldn’t even quite call it a full-fledged restaurant. But since it came highly recommended by several people, we decided to dine in anyway. We just had Bongo’s, and as a Bengali I can confidently say that this is one of the best Bengali food I have had in the US (including Bay Area and New York City). We order Fish Chops, Mughlai Paratha (Fluffy flatbread stuffed with minced chicken and eggs), Shorshe Ilish (Mustard Hilsa), Prawn Mali Curry, Radhaballavi (Puri bread stuffed with lentils), Matar Kachori (Puri bread stuffed with peas), alloo dum, and Misti Doi (Sweet Yoghurt). The flavours were authentic, fresh, and balanced, the service was quick and the staff were very friendly. Highly recommend this restaurant, and I’m sure I’l

Their special menus are great. The Chinese combo plate is super delicious! The portion size is big (For photo purpose- couldn’t fit the whole in one plate!) Fish curry, bharta platter, country chicken combo, chicken roast platter during Eid, and Iftar platter during Ramadan are flavorful.

They serve authentic Bangladeshi cuisine. It was so heartfelt to find “shutki bhuna” (Dried fish) in the restaurant. The food was fresh and quality was topnotch. The staff members were also very friendly and hospitable. Would love to come back in the future.
