Valle is operating at a level that makes the Michelin star feel completely earned. Chef Roberto Alcocer’s tasting menu is contemporary Mexican through a very Baja and Northern Mexico lens, with oceanfront Oceanside views, thoughtful sourcing, and a wine program that leans beautifully into producers from Northern Mexico. My favorite was the caviar dish, elegant, layered, and so perfectly balanced that it felt luxurious without trying too hard. We had dinner at Valle and it was an incredible experience from start to finish. The atmosphere is warm, elegant, and very inviting — the kind of place where you immediately feel comfortable and taken care of. The food was outstanding. I rarely leave negative reviews, but this experience at Valle in Oceanside warrants one. The issue was not the food. It was the service and how the situation was handled. We were told seating was first come, first served and that we were first in line when we returned. Following staff instructions, we ordered drinks while waiting for a table. During that time, we were asked whether we were “only having drinks,” even though we clearly stated we were waiting to order dinner.
