We stopped in on the way back to NC State. Super close. This was a great representation of what real NC vinegar based whole hog bbq. The brisket was good but Texas has nothing to worry about. Lol. Mac n cheese was excellent and the beans were pretty good too. The pork rinds were really good being fresh and still warm. Definitely will be back.

The food was raved to be great online but the cornbread is obviously missing a whole ingredient. Unless I’m missing what cornbread is suppose to be like. But as a southern girl I’ve had a ton cornbread and never any this dry or dense. They were out of the pulled pork on a Thursday afternoon and the potato salad tasted like it was straight from the food lion. Now I like food lion potato salad but didn’t expect to get that at a restaurant known for its southern bbq. The smoked chicken sure didn’t have any smoke… The banana pudding was amazing though. Service was great and staff was super sweet.

Sam Jones has been on my bucket list for a while now, and it definitely didn't disappoint! The pulled pork was next level with the way they mix in the crispy bits of skin with the chopped pork. Just delicious! The sweet sauce and vinegar sauce are both great, but the chopped pork doesn't need it. The ribs and turkey we're fantastic as well! The ribs had excellent flavor and they were perfectly tender as I bit into them leaving a clean bite without all the meat falling off the bone. That's a perfectly cooked rib if you ask me. The chicken is good, but if you order the 3 meat platter like I did

Might be one of my favorite barbecue spots in the Raleigh area! We tried the 2 meat platters with ribs, brisket, chicken, and pulled pork. The brisket was nothing to rave about, but the rest of the meats were delicious! Usually don’t care for chicken, but the way that they seasoned and cooked it made it a star of the show for us. The size were delicious. If you’re going to go for two, I would say go for the potato salad and the mac & cheese. The collards and beans are also good but not mandatory. If you have to choose between the cornbread and the toast, go with the toast. Plenty of seating
