The sushi they have at Sasa is great, but the ambiance, price, and relatively small size of its menu prevent me from giving it a higher rating. When I went recently the tables are sticky and I don’t think the booth we sat in matched the price point of the menu (although the tabletop is pretty cool). For what we are paying, I would have liked to see more fish and rolls on the menu. I’m allergic to crab and no other seafood, and almost all of the rolls have crab which was disappointing.

We had a lovely Sunday afternoon date night at Sasa. For ambiance, the restaurant has an upscale, modern vibe with earthy elements. There's a pretty water feature next to the front entrance which you can hear in the side patio. We requested outdoor seating. I noted that all of the couples were seated in the side patio, and a family was seated in the front, which I think helps keep the mood romantic for the couples. The food was mostly delicious, and had a high class vibe with fun flair.

This is the kind of elevated Japanese experience that’s hard to find, and Walnut Creek is lucky to have it. Highly recommend.

After eating, I immediately started feeling symptoms of an allergic reaction and told the staff that I was having an allergy attack. Instead of taking it seriously, they continued arguing with me and insisted there was absolutely no shrimp in the dish. As my reaction became worse, the manager finally admitted that the dish actually did contain shrimp and apologized. Even after that, the wa
