Miami★★★I was looking forward to dining at Platan based on its reputation, but unfortunately it didn't live up to the hype. While I understand restaurants get busy, waiting over 30 minutes just to receive the bill is unacceptable and put a damper on the entire experience. The food was decent, but not memorable enough to justify the high prices. Overall, I found it to be overpriced and overrated. Samarkand has plenty of excellent restaurants that offer better food, better service, and a much better overall experience. I wouldn't return or recommend it based on my visit.
Dmitry K★★★★★The trendiest restaurant in Samarkand. It offers an extensive menu and excellent service, which is included in the bill. The restaurant is always busy, so it is best to reserve a table in advance. We enjoyed the food—everything was delicious. The prices are high, but justified by the quality and overall experience.
Trip.com MemberThis is a really great place to stay in Samarkand. Huge beds and huge rooms. The rooms have huge wardrobes, a fridge, kettle, safe, and a coffee maker. The bed is the biggest I've seen, but it's a little hard. It's close to Registan Square and a huge number of nice restaurants, even has its own restaurant attached that serves some great steak. The breakfast is really nice - you'll have a personal table with samsa and lots of snacks, and be able to order a specific breakfast on top.
Karen Stahl★★★★★Excellent meals and service. We visited twice. Their vitamin salad was so delish, and I'm now obsessed and will try to recreate it at home, also the lamb cutlets, lamb shank and oxtail were enjoyed very much. It was lovely to sit in the garden by the water feature, which kept us cool, but they also had water mist spray out the front. A very enjoyable experience, which I highly recommend.
Thuttai Keeratipongpaiboon★★Booked in advance for indoor seating, but this was unfortunately overlooked and we were placed outside in the cold. There was also a clear lack of attention in managing reservations and guest preferences, and cigarette smoke was quite prevalent, something to consider if you are sensitive to it. That said, the food was very good, especially the lamb and beef dishes, though the chicken was not particularly good value for what was ordered. Overall, a disappointing service experience, and it is not a place I would readily recommend to those who place importance on attentive service and a comfortable dining environment.
Travel Notes★★★★★Platan Restaurant is a great option in Samarkand if you’re looking for well-made chicken dishes and a comfortable dining experience. We tried the Thai chicken with rice, chicken Kiev, a noodle soup, and a mango passion juice, and everything stood out for its flavour and freshness. The food felt well-balanced and consistently good across dishes rather than hit-or-miss. The staff were friendly and attentive, and they helped us choose dishes with useful recommendations, which made the experience smoother for first-time visitors. The ambience is another highlight — the decor is tastefully done and gives the place a relaxed, slightly upscale feel without being overly formal.
T Tien★Booked a table one day in advance, but upon arrival, there was no proper table available. We were instead seated outside next to a smoking area, with a strong smell of cigarettes, and the staff refused to accommodate a change despite our request. For a restaurant positioning itself at this level, this is quite disappointing. Service should match the quality and pricing, but unfortunately, this was not the case. The food may be decent, but the overall experience was overshadowed by poor service and lack
Claude Teisen-Simony★★★★★Platan Restaurant has a very nice old style interior design, which creates a great athmosphere. It is very popular and thus completely fully booked when we arrived. But a kind gentleman took care of us, and got a table arranged. It came that he was one of the family behind, very nice welcome. And we got an awesome evening enjoying the great hospitality and service of Platan. On top we got some fantastic local cuisine and some very nice Uzbek wine. For the quality and service it was very good value.
