I came on a whim cause I really wanted a warm gulash and... It was so delicious I could've licked the plate. Everyone was so welcoming and friendly despite the language barrier. Far from the trendy spots all around Wien, there is something so heartwarming in this place and the dishes that this little moment became a highlight of my trip. Don't forget to bring cash as payment by card is not possible!

Gasthof zum Sieg — the name says it all. The place feels like it’s straight out of the 1950s, with a couple of tourists mixed in among what seemed to be mostly regulars. The menu is limited to just three items: large goulash, small goulash, and a hot dog (Austrian-style) topped with goulash. Simple and final. They serve excellent Austrian beer on draft. I’ve never had such an exceptional goulash in such an historic setting. It’s served with one or two Kaiser rolls — perfect for soaking up the delicious sauce. Prices are mid-range.

If you’re looking for local authentic Vienna vibes.. this is the place! Small local pub, INCREDIBLE food, small menu. The goulash was next level and the owners and locals were all super friendly!
