We were solicited to go inside and have lunch which to be honest we were a bit hesitant because nobody was there. I am so glad we did. We had the famous carobonnade al la flammande with and a beef carpaccio as an appetizer. It was truly delicious and so glad we did. The service was excellent and friendly nice pours of wine and cava. I was walking through Brussels and happened to come across Restaurant Chez Soi, and I’m so glad I decided to stop in. Even though it was quiet at the time, the greeter was incredibly warm and welcoming, which immediately made me feel comfortable. I ordered the mussels with French fries, and they were absolutely delicious, fresh, flavorful, and cooked perfectly. You can truly taste the care put into the food. We had a very disappointing experience here. The staff refused to accept card payment and insisted that we pay in cash. Since we did not have enough cash with us, one person had to leave the restaurant and find an ATM to withdraw money. After we paid in cash, the staff then asked us for an additional tip. They repeatedly told us that the amount on the receipt did not include service, implying that we should pay extra. This made us feel very uncomfortable and under pressure.
