Want good poutine in Kingston? Go to Bubba's Original on King St. They're the ones who brought poutine to Kingston back in the 1980s, so they really know what they're doing! Their Quebec style poutine is amazing. The fries are crispy, the gravy is hot and tasty, and the cheese curds squeak when you bite them (that's how you know they're fresh!). My husband and I have been getting the same thing from here for years, and absolutely loved it! It was always consistent and tasted great. More recently we’ve noticed that our poutines have had a ridiculous amount of gravy, making it more like soup than poutine.. this has happened twice to us now. Last time was much worse. The food used to be really good. The burgers are still good. One of the best around in fact. I'd much rather a burger from bubbas than any fast food place at the same price range or more. The flavor is excellent and the meat is much better than other burger places in the downtown area. The poutine went from excellent and flavorful to a barely edible and flavorless soggy mess. “Quebec Style Poutine” was excellent. Large size was definitely large, and had cheese and gravy all the way to the bottom. Order came quick, and prices are comparable to fast food, but tasted so much better.
