“☕ Tomoca Coffee – A Taste of Ethiopia’s Coffee Heritage Tomoca Coffee is more than just a coffee shop – it is a living piece of history. Located in a historic building dating back to 1928–1931, this iconic café captures the authentic spirit of Addis Ababa and Ethiopia’s deep-rooted coffee culture.”
“The staff here are much nicer than at other Tomoca branches, and it’s a great spot to grab coffee and hang out with locals. The price for a cup of coffee is reasonable, but the 100g gift coffee beans are way overpriced.”
“Visited the original Tomoca Coffee shop. The atmosphere was cozy, smelling of roasted coffee beans, and lots of tourists were enjoying. The macchiato was strong. Service was quick and we got to see how the coffee was made in the back.”

Essam Azyabi★★★★★An Authentic, Historic Ethiopian Coffee Experience, A Must-Visit for Coffee Lovers Established in 1953, Tomoca Coffee is the oldest and most legendary coffee roasting company in Addis Ababa. Walking into their historic Piazza branch feels like stepping back in time. It is a masterpiece of Ethiopian coffee culture, filled with vintage charm, rich aromas, and an vibrant atmosphere that you simply cannot miss when visiting the capital. Beverage Highlights and Recommendations: * If you appreciate strong, full-bodied coffee similar to espresso, you must order the Macchiato Strong. It offers a spectacular balance and a deeply rich flavor. It delivers the bold, robust punch of high-quality coffee but beautifully lacks the bitter, overly sharp edge found in standard espresso. Buying Coffee and Souvenirs: * No visit is truly complete without purchasing some of their premium coffee beans or freshly ground coffee to take home. They offer exceptional blends packed in beautiful, gift-ready packagin
RW★★★★★Visited Tomoca Coffee while in Addis Ababa and absolutely loved it. Tomoca has been here since 1953 and it feels refreshingly unchanged. Dark wood counters, old grinders humming away, locals stepping in for a quick espresso and heading back out. No fuss, no performance — just proper Ethiopian coffee. Ethiopia is widely regarded as the birthplace of coffee, and you really feel that sense of heritage here. Arabica grows wild in the forests of Kaffa, and the whole legend of Kaldi and his goats discovering coffee starts in this country. Coffee isn’t a trend in Ethiopia — it’s history and daily life. Tomoca represents the faster, urban side of that tradition. Strong, bold espresso served efficiently at the counter. We tasted, approved (my partner is the real coffee connoisseur), and bought beans to bring home. If you’re in Addis and want to experience authentic local coffee culture rather than a modern café concept, this is the place. Highly recommended.

helen ephrem★★★★★Tomoca Coffee – Piassa Branch (by Eliana Hotel, on the way to St. George Cathedral) One of my favorite coffee spots in Addis. The vibe is classic and always full of energy. The smell of freshly roasted beans pulls you in the moment you walk by. Their macchiato is my go-to rich, smooth, and just the right kick. Quick service, no extra fuss, but the taste always delivers. If you're around Piassa, this place is a must-stop.

خالد محمد (بو محمد)★★★★★Good place to try a coffee in Adiss Ababa, looks like a small museum more than coffe shop with a lot of old stuffs inside the place including old maps and photos . But not place to sit at all just you need to drink your coffee or tea while standing on table , you finish and leave . The place also offer coffe to buy from same company and some other stuffs . Deserve it visit really.
Daniel★★★★★A hidden gem tucked away in Ethiopia's coffee history, this charming shop roasts beans with a modern twist. Forget stale traditions – they celebrate their heritage with the latest techniques, crafting truly remarkable Ethiopian coffee. And the good news? Prices are kind to your wallet, making it easy to stock up or simply savor a cup. Speaking of savoring, my recent haul came with a delightful surprise: complimentary coffee and tea! Pure Ethiopian hospitality poured into every steaming cup. Whether you're a coffee connoisseur or just curious, this shop is a must-visit. It's not just about the beans, it's about the experience: a vibrant blend of tradition and innovation, wrapped in warm Ethiopian charm.
