Tried Chicken Biryani (with thumbs up…best combo), Pudding and Caramel Custard. Can’t go wrong with these. Excellent Experience
Food is great with reasonable price and quantity. Their bread pudding is most recommendable. However you dont expect chicken curries even if they are on menu. You can only get mutton keema, chicken keema is not always available there.
Good irani food. Chicken cutlet and keema is nice. And the caramel custard is really good; it's not too sweet which means you get to enjoy it till the last bite. And it's really close to CST station so it's easy to reach. And there is pay and park on the street as well

Cafe Excelsior is one of those heritage Irani cafés that carries decades of nostalgia with it. In its prime, it was a landmark dining spot in Fort — a place where classic Parsi and Irani flavours defined comfort food for generations. On our recent visit, however, the experience felt more like a reminder of its glorious past rather than its present strength. We ordered the Bun Maska with Chai, which remains a simple, comforting classic. The chai had that familiar strong brew, and the bun maska did evoke a bit of old-school charm. The Mutton Cutlet one of their most talked-about dishes — was decent, with the cutlet nicely fried, though the gravy lacked the richness we had expected from all the praise it receives. The Kheema pav and kheema Ghotala was flavourful and satisfying, pairing well with pav, and probably one of the better dishes of our meal. The menu itself is extensive and filled with iconic dishes like Mutton Pattice, Sali Boti, Chicken and Mutton Dhansak, Kheema Pav, Chicken

Visiting Café Excelsior felt like stepping into history. At 116 years old, this place has preserved its old-world charm beautifully. I had the pleasure of meeting the owner, who was incredibly kind and welcoming – a true gentleman. I tried their mutton cutlet gravy with bread, and it was super excellent – full of flavor and so satisfying. The tea was equally good, the perfect companion to the meal. If you’re looking for authentic taste and heartfelt hospitality, I highly recommend everyone to visit this iconic café. Can’t wait to go back!

This café used to be wonderful. Even a year ago, when I visited and had the kheema pav, it was delicious, and the warm hospitality of the staff made the experience special. However, during my visit last week, it felt like the café had lost its charm. I ordered the same dish but was served cold pav and was charged ₹300. When I requested toasted pav, I was told they couldn't provide it because they didn't even have a burner. The kitchen also appeared quite messy, and it seemed as though the food might now be outsourced. The owner appeared rather aloof as well. It's truly sad to see the decline of a café that we once loved so much.

I came at lunch time and they ran out of all their famous items, including the mutton cutlet and fish in banana leaf, which was very disappointing. I ended up having just the mutton keema. The server recommended having it with bread, so I did. I’m not sure why that would be the recommendation as it was rather plain. It would have been much better had the bread been toasted. Slightly expensive for what it is.

We had a great experience here. The place is clean and the waiter very friendly and helpful. One of the nicest guys that I've come across in this business. Since we weren't too hungry, we got the Veggie cutlets with Chai, a pudding and a flan. Everything was good, but I have to especially mention the Veggie cutlet. It was the best and largest cutlet that I've had in life, without exaggeration. Check this place out if you're in the area, it is a historic one!
