chris vial★1868: High Prices, Low Standards It’s hard not to admire the performance of Restaurant 1868: turning what is supposed to be a high-end dining experience into an overpriced canteen takes a certain level of commitment. It all starts with the refusal of the tasting menu — which is simply a selection of dishes already on the menu. Refused, most likely because I was dining alone. Instead, I was advised to order multiple dishes… which is essentially the same thing, just without the coherence or elegance. The amuse-bouche, proudly presented as an “olive tree,” consists of two stuffed olives and two hazelnuts. Conceptual, perhaps. Or just extremely minimal. The soup — the only genuinely good part of the meal — arrives at the same time as the starters. Service timing straight out of a cafeteria, with the added bonus of a dirty spoon that had to be sent back. The reaction: a casual “oops, sorry.” Then come the sweetbreads: overcooked and excessively salty. I barely touch the plate. No one as
Yosef - Joe Tavin★★★★★1868 is "the" best gourmet Kosher meat restaurant in Jerusalem. Food is made to the highest standards, every little detail in place and Service is excellent. We love this place and have been going there repeatedly saving it only for the best of occasions. Although it's pricey it's most certainly worth it.
Gideon Poland★★★★★Restaurant of high cuisine This restaurant is among “must to go” places in Jerusalem. 1. Location. Located on king David street in the very heart of the holy city 🌆 Very close to the Old town of JLM and all sacred places. 2. Exterior. Signboard and entrance do not attract and describe the beauty inside. 3. Peculiarities. The Restaurant is open from 18:00 till night and almost always full. Booking in advance is recommended. Very low chance to find a table “from the street”. 4. Interior. Very welcoming, cosy and nice. 2 zones: outside, yard zone; and indoor section. 5. Service. Client-oriented, professional. Chef 👨🍳 creates extremely delicious 😋 dishes, and waiters professionally present them, knowing what drinks 🥤 and wines 🍷 to advise. Compliment from chef is usually served. 6. Parking 🅿️. No particular place devoted for parking. To save nerves and time 🕰️ taxi 🚕 is recommended to get to the restaurant. 7. No devoted space for children.

Jeremy Weiss★★★★★True luxury dining. I found myself in a warm stony interior @ 1868 in Jerusalem. Service exceptional - surroundings are warm and cosy. The food — outstanding. Rabbanut Yerushayim. The restaurant is suitable for everyone of every level of faith for a fine dining restaurant. From the little olive tree brought to your table with olives and small nuts to nibble on as the meal Is prepared to the perfect wine matching for each course - this is an experience not to be missed. After your main course, you can choose to have your dinner at their Zuta Bar where you can choose from a wide variety of cocktails to go with your amazing dessert. If you go because of this message, feel free to tell Chef Yankele that I recommended his place to you - it's a real pleasure talking with the Chef:) It is with great pleasure and a full and happy stomach that I recommend 1868 and it's Zuta Bar. Ari S★★For the price they take the service was incredibly subpar. No one knew anything about the expensive wine menu. The food was very tasty but not worth the money they charge. The atmosphere was nice but nothing special and it was very hot, small and narrow. Not sure what the hype is about. Don’t recommend and won’t be back.
Avigail Spira★★★★The food is very good and impressive for Kosher food, and we enjoyed 3/4 of the dishes we ordered. The bresaola starter was wonderful and very well balanced in flavor and texture. The duck main was fantastically sweet and savory, almost making it a candy dish that’s hard to stop eating. The Wagyu Denver cut was like smoked beefy butter, an absolute pleasure to taste. The only dish we were sourly disappointed in was the ceviche which was entirely one note: acidic. It direly needed more salt and sweetness to balance out the flavor, and we were surprised that the same palette that created the bresaola starter let this dish leave the kitchen. All in all a pleasant experience, albeit a little expensive.
