Visited Capim Dourado with our lunch club and had a pleasant experience. The fried bananas were addictive, the caipirinhas were delicious, and my friends who ordered meat could not stop raving about it. The bobó de camarão and the feijoada were decent, although I’ve had better versions elsewhere. For dessert, the Romeo and Juliet was a very nice surprise—quite different from what we expected, in a good way. The service was great, and the live music ended up being very enjoyable, even though I was not very enthusiastic about it at first.

The host was not very welcoming, but the ambience was nice. The wait staff was helpful and good. We tried some appetizers that were solid (especially the pumpkin with dried beef), but my steak was not good. I came home after dinner and immediately brushed my teeth to get the flavor out of my mouth. I won’t be returning.

You know that scene in Ratatouille, when they open their small restaurant at the end of the movie. I felt like that describes the best how one feels when visiting this place. The attention to detail, even the silverware resembles “cana de açúcar” from Brazil, the food is beyond description and the staff is super friendly and seem proud to be a part of it. As said in the movie, “I will be returning to Capim Dourado soon, hungry for more”. The “feijoada” I’ve ordered didn’t make it to the picture, because it was too damn good. Easily the best in Portugal, maybe the best outside Brazil.
