We came here after reading many positive reviews — and we didn’t regret it at all. The experience exceeded our expectations! Despite the crowd, we didn’t have to wait long for a table. And even if we had, it wouldn’t have been a problem — you could always grab something tasty and sit by the sea. The staff were excellent: fast, polite, and professional. The food was not just delicious — it was made with fresh seafood and real passion. We were a bit afraid of being disappointed, but there was no reason for that. Everything was great 👍🏻

The foie a la plancha at Arantzale in Getxo is seared hard enough on the outside to give you something to cut through and soft enough on the inside to make you put down whatever you were thinking about. Caramel sauce pooled around the base, dark chocolate shavings scattered across the top like someone decided at the last minute to make the whole thing even more serious, served on a thick slice of toasted bread that exists purely to catch everything that runs off the sides. One of the best bites in Bilbao and Bilbao is not a city that makes that easy to say.

Traditional Basque tavern with three or four tables inside and a pretty large terrace. The food is all about pintxos and small portions to be shared. We really enjoyed the fried calamari and filled peppers. Perfect for a stop before or after strolling through the picturesque old port of Algorta.
