Maison Dorée

We stopped in Cadiz for a day while on a long cruise from Lisbon. We spent the day exploring all the wonderful sites in Cadiz. We made our way to the Plaza de San Juan de Dios around lunch time to find a place to eat. We decided to try Madison Doree which had very nice outside seating. They were very busy so service was a bit slow but ok. We ordered Iberian Ham and Madrid beer. The beer was tasty and the ham was wonderful.

As Australians with terrible Spanish language skills the wait staff were patient. It was so fun to watch Spain play Morrocco on the big screen, while sipping an orange gin and tonic, and then enjoy listening to a Spanish singing group. The kitchen had already closed but we could get a plate of Jamon to nibble on. It was crazy crowded but all the staff had a great sense of humour and were working fast to keep up.

Amazing place to have aperitivo. Great selection of vine and cocktails. The staff is super pleasant and hospitable. Plus the view of the main town square is amazing.
