Almost ten years ago, we visited for the first time Cadiz. We accidentally came across Taperia d’Cortés and we got immediately hooked. Not only the food was amazing but from the first interactions we realized what it truly means to have a family owned restaurant where passion for food is the main driver. Despite the language barriers, as we knew very little Spanish at that time and Manuel and his family had some difficulties in understanding our English, the language of the great food prevailed. Where to start... Food was ok, although a bit simple. Seemed plates were missing something. Price was ok. Service.... Empty restaurant and we were led to a table next to the toilets in the back. Accepted it expecting others to come in. All the other tables stayed empty during our visit. While still working on our starter the main courses arrive... no-one came to see if all was fine, they were not interested at all, it seemed. I will never come back. p.s. The slowcooked beef rib was not available, although on the menu. Reading another review here, reminded me i had the same experience.

Really enjoyed this place. We were there late in the evening. Service was efficient and friendly. We tried different tapas and all were very good. Wines were also good. Prices very reasonable. Definitely recommend.
