My husband and I ate lunch here at least three times during a trip to Madrid late December 2021. El Cardeña was close to our hotel on Plaza Santa Ana, and though Plaza del Ángel can be a bit busy with foot traffic, we appreciated the ability to sit outside. Each time we visited we ate selections from the menú del día special, which was about 11-14 euros per person, depending on the day’s selections and whether you eat inside or out (there’s a 1 euro surcharge for eating outside). Nice bar and restaurant with good choice of Spanish dishes and snacks. Service was super friendly and helpful. Some longer waiting time for food as it was crowded. Drinks were served quick. The food - we tried several dishes and dessert - was quite good. Just the dessert a bit soso. Were treated a free shot afterwards. Also some nice small free snacks with drinks. Pricing fair.
