After struggling to find restaurants available to us, we had amazing experience here. The location was perfect right by the cathedral. The staff were very attentive and friendly considering we only spoke minimal Spanish. The menu focused on elevated versions of classic tapas and the wine list was affordable and offered interesting varietals and blends to satisfy any palate. We loved it so much that we went back later that evening to try more. Would 100% return or recommend to anyone visiting Tarragona.

Wow wow wow!!! Casa Balcells provided an incredible experiences for my study abroad class. We experienced the authentic Spanish cuisine including tapas and entrees. They did a great job accommodating necessary dietary restrictions (i.e., no pork) and the food was balanced, savory, and filling. We tried a beef tartar, beef t-bone steak (1kg, but please take into account: you have to grill it my yourself), sangria de cave (I love it), and anchovy 😍 Everything was delicious 🤤 The staff was so friendly. The location is gorgeous. Highly recommend!

We visited the Cathedral on Saturday 13th and stopped by Casa Balcells afterwards. We were served by the lovely Alina who was helpful, friendly and warm. We had the seafood paella for two with a cold beer followed by the apple tatin with salted caramel ice cream. I will spend the rest of my life trying to find a paella as good as that. Wonderful experience and highly recommended.
