Absolutely loved this place. I’m a sucker for hipster spaces that thoughtfully highlight heritage, and this restaurant does exactly that, and does it exceptionally well. From the exterior to the interior, the design journey is beautifully executed. You move from the urban street into a heritage-inspired front porch and finally into the dining space itself. The way the space transitions, that sense of spatial progression, is absolutely nailed. The menu is just as impressive. Every element, from the food to the drinks, is clearly designed to highlight Taichung’s heritage. It’s not just heritage by name — the thoughtfulness goes deep. Ingredient selection, flavours, and presentation all reflect a genuine effort to preserve and showcase local stories. What stood out most was that this goes beyond childhood nostalgia or desk research — the team spoke to people from the places they’re trying to honour, translating lived stories into culinary expression. Drinks were inspired from Taiwan local flavours and are mostly fruity (hence probably why the drinks slant towards the sweeter side) The staff are quite friendly and do their best in putting up the best service for the customers. Prawn Toast was great, basically minced prawns lathered generously onto bread, and the whole thing deep fried. Delicious with slightly tangy curry sauce. Noodles were also amazing, creamy and so addictive. The braised pork leg(?) rice was also pretty decent, although we enjoyed the other 2 dishes more. As for the drinks, somehow I can't quite remember what they were - neither their names nor their tastes. But I could remember exactly what I drank and how I felt at another bar about 2 days prior to my Tor Day visit; perhaps the drinks we chose were just not up our alley. Overall, a fun and vibey joint for drinks, but for close to 1600NTD between the two of us, did not exactly feel that it was worth the money spent.

My partner and I had a lovely time at Tor Day some weeks back. We got the bar seats and Mario and the rest of the crew were super friendly. They took the time to explain the concepts behind their drinks and we could tell the effort put behind making each drink memorable and different. Mario also recommended to us a couple of supper places to check out, and other bars to support. Thanks guys, y'all made our trip to Taichung a lovely one.

The drinks were also impressive, beautifully presented, and perfectly crafted. The food was exceptional, from the expertly prepared noodles to the steak.
