I also loved the decoration of the place—it was beautiful and gave a very warm and traditional vibe. The service was good as well, and everything was handled nicely. Had a very bad experience at Malabar Thattukada. From the moment we sat down, no one was bothered to attend our table. We called the staff multiple times just to place our order again, but nobody paid attention. It felt like our table simply did not matter. The service sequence was completely unprofessional. In every normal restaurant, side dishes or salads come first and the main dish comes later. Here, the main dish was served first, and after we had almost finished eating, the side dishes and salad were brought to the table. This totally spoiled the dining experience. What made it worse was the staff behavior. No one was attending our table properly, while staff members were clearly busy focusing on other tables, especially groups of girls, and ignoring us. This kind of selective service is unacceptable. Overall, extremely poor service, lack of basic hospitality, and zero attention to customers. Malabar Thattukada Ajman has a beautiful and spacious setup with a classic Kerala vibe and a unique houseboat-themed ambience. The ambience and service were excellent and really made the dining experience pleasant. Coming to the food, our experience was based only on chattichoru and biriyani. The chattichoru was good and flavorful, but the biriyani definitely needs improvement. They may have many other good dishes as well, so this review is limited to what we tried. I wrote a review about this restaurant two years ago and my overall experience was average, except for the ambience, In between, I attended a birthday party here. I visited again last week and noticed that not much has changed. The food quality was still average. I ordered a beef dish from the menu, but what I received was a normal beef roast with a small portion. We expect at least a properly made porotta from a thattukada, but even that was not cooked well. I ordered a strong tea with less sugar, but what I got was a normal tea loaded with sugar and it was not even hot. When I asked about it, the staff admitted it was actually prepared for someone outside who had not picked it up yet. I couldn’t drink it, my daughter enjoyed a portion as a dessert 😜. I left with the same impression as before: the average taste of food and not worthy, nothing special. It was a really delicious taste with great quality, everything had a unique taste which we had ordered, nice arrangement and services from the staff while eating. I really felt like sitting on a houseboat and eating. Very nice atmosphere. Biryani eaten in banana leaves is very tasty. It is another level when the smell of that leaf also comes.
