This is a picturesque and tranquil hotel, just what we needed. Our pup was warmly welcomed as were we. There is a goody bag for your dog and a dog bed supplied in the room. This was a lovely touch. Dogs are welcome throughout the property with the exception of the main dining room. If a peaceful get away where your dog is welcome is what you’re looking for, this is the place for you. Sadly there were too many areas lacking for us to confidently recommend this hotel to friends and family . The room is relatively well appointed however there isn’t a fridge (surely a given at this price point?),

Been a couple of times now and the food in the restaurant fell short of what we had in the past. Limited vegan options. Perhaps we should have mentioned one of our party was vegan but we weren’t asked the question either. We ate the first of the two nights booked and was disappointed with the quality of the food. So much so that we cancelled the second night and ate in a local pub. It won’t deter us from booking again as the location is good and very dog friendly. The staff were fantastic and friendly. I've got 1 night hotel with dinner and breakfast as a wedding present. The hotel was very cute, comfortable bed, nice decoration etc... But the dinner was overpriced. We have a £35 voucher for each but the main course was already £28 and you need to add a 12.5% gratitude. The portions were nimute. My husband was so hungry he couldn't sleep. We ate the biscuits and 1 hot chocolate from the room. He said if the hotel were closed to the town he would go the Co Op and get a sandwich. Breakfast on the other hand was fine. But avoid dinner. This review is for the restaurant and Gin Bar only (we didn't stay at the hotel): The Gin bar is a gin-lover's dream. It's a tiny, simple space, but the gin selection is encyclopedic, with a good variety of tonics to match. Highly recommended. The Kitchen Restaurant offers high-quality British fare, very well prepared. The selection could be wider, and the dining room has less character than the rest of the (beautiful) property, but we greatly enjoyed our meal.
