What a fantastic introduction to Edinburgh! This was my first visit to the city, and Café Royal absolutely lived up to the recommendation from my friend. The oysters were incredibly fresh, and the haggis toastie was outstanding – a perfect way to try a local favourite. The staff were warm, friendly, and efficient throughout my visit, making me feel welcome from the moment I arrived. Great food, excellent service, and a wonderful atmosphere. I’ll definitely be back the next time I’m in Edinburgh. Highly recommended!

A recent business trip brought me to Café Royal three times — solo, with a friend, and for a proper business lunch. Not once did it put a foot wrong. The seafood is rather extraordinary. The oysters are in a league of their own, the seashells with young asparagus are a genuinely lovely touch, and the scallops are the sort of thing you find yourself thinking about on the flight home.
