Throwing a handheld pdq on the bar whilst chatting to a mate or a colleague doesn't to me at least, offer a heartfelt thanks for your custom. I stood there and waited for the server to actually tell me the price of the bill and move the pdq to somewhere in my vicinity. Watched the footy and left, what do you expect nowadays; busy enough not to care and too busy to bother to care.
