r r★★★★★Sargasso is exactly the kind of place Margate needed — relaxed, confident and completely focused on letting brilliant ingredients speak for themselves. The whole restaurant has this effortless coastal energy: buzzing open kitchen, great music, natural wines flowing and a room full of people clearly having a very good time. Every plate felt beautifully judged. The scallops were outrageously fresh with that vibrant green sauce that you end up wanting to mop up with every piece of bread on the table. The fried red mullet was one of those dishes you keep talking about afterwards — perfectly crisp

The restaurant’s atmosphere was excellent as well. I would definitely visit again. Walk-ins are possible, but reservations are recommended.

We sampled a range - highlights included the scallops with nduja, the pea stew (doesn’t look like much on the menu but incredibly tasty) and the cod dish which was divine. Also recommend their house white wine - amazing value and very delicious, plus they serve a fab range of non alcoholic options.
Sheila Schroeder★★★★★Don’t miss this place. I almost don’t want to review it because I don’t want it to become impossible to get into. The staff is terrific. The space is tiny so they have to navigate it expertly. They made some great recommendations and we ordered every one of them. They do have a large outdoor seating space and on a nice day it’s beautiful-right on the harbor looking at the waterfront. The food is seafood oriented and so original.
