My mum and I come from the Netherlands and are on our way to Cornwall. We were just passing through town for the night but decided to have a drink at The Bat & Ball Freehouse… which turned out to be a very good decision! First thing we noticed was the large beer garden which looked very nice and it has a playground too. There’s picnic tables under a roof that will offer shelter when it rains. Inside, the pub is so cosy and has a nice homely feel to it. The fun wooden chairs, benches and pictures on the wall added a nice charm. The staff was so kind and helpful and didn’t rush you at all even

Edit: under new management, refreshed garden/patio area. A great pub all around. A good selection of beers and ciders (check blackboard for the extra ones they have round the back!) A great seasonally changing menu, mostly stays the same, but the specifics change every 3 months or so. Occasionally one season will be a bit of a miss though. Highly recommend their chocolate brownies, burgers are good, but not as good as before COVID. The inside is reasonably large, with a fireplace etc for those cold days.
