I really wanted to like this place and support a local Black-owned business, but unfortunately my experience fell short. When I walked in, the café was empty, yet the space looked like it hadn’t been wiped down or cleaned recently. Tables and surfaces appeared dirty, which made the overall atmosphere feel neglected. Since it wasn’t busy, it was hard to overlook. I ordered a spinach pastry, which actually tasted pretty good. First time at Thunder Mug this morning. Though the line was long-ish (4 people ahead of me), and there was only one barista, it moved very quickly. The barista was nice but not friendly if that makes sense, not a lot of chit chat and short responses which made me feel a little rushed. The ordering/pickup area is a little cramped so the line backs into the seating area. The decor and all wooden seating was nice. I did not see where napkins were available and the straws are unwrapped in an open container, though you can ASK for wrapped paper straws. My medium carrot cake chai latte was very weak

I love that my neighborhood includes Thundermug. The owners and baristas are so kind and lovely. The beignets are to die for. Coffee is priced affordable even with Trump tariffs. My dog walks are brighter with a quick stop to Thundermug. While dogs cat come in, they have chairs outside to wait at.

First time coming here. I went around 4pm I sat at the table near the door for about 30 minutes working on my laptop. There was no barista at the counter. Then someone walked out the shop from the back. I was never greeted, spoken to, or acknowledged. I left when I realized the barista was sitting on the back on his laptop and got up to take someone’s order. Not sure how this establishment is ran. If I was supposed to go to counter first or if someone was supposed to come greet me at the table. Didn’t appreciate it. Just something to consider..
