The Fried Catfish were really good, chicken wings and roasted chicken were delicious. The ribs were ordered were OK. Am not sure if the potato salad and collard greens have been tailored for NYC market but both were watery and lacked flavor. The corn bread was tasty but had a very crumbly texture. Still a solid southern place in Queens that is reasonably priced with a lot of seating.

I recently ordered from The Smoke Pit, expecting a satisfying Southern meal based on their appealing photos and online menu, but unfortunately, my experience was profoundly disappointing. I ordered the fried shrimp, macaroni and cheese, and candied yams, and I wish I could say something positive—but the entire meal is now sitting in the trash, and I’ve lost my appetite altogether. The owner is hands down the absolute best. My husband and I was otw to the restaurant and got a flat tire. I called the restaurant owner to let him know we were on the way but caught a flat. He closed the restaurant down, brought us food AND changed the tire… jk that’s my brother in law but he did show up with the food 😭😂
